This page is for providing more information on resolving vibration issues. This is an ongoing process and almost every vessel has a unique vibration issue so the learning never stops.

This is a seminar that I presented to boat brokers on how to identify vibration issues at the engine mounts. The differences between the two different engine mount styles. Also, what should be done on installation to avoid vibration issues.

Elevated vibrations levels felt in the aft cockpit area can be attriuted to improper prop fit issues. On 92% of the boats that have vibration issues it is because the props are not properly fitted to the prop shaft
I have developed an in the water test for prop fit that is 90% accurate. It is a 5 minute test. If the test indicates and issue there is another out water that is more precise that identities both the location of the improper fit and the severity of lack of fit.
This process took three years to develop and validated testing procedures with corrective actions.

We practice safe distancing if possible and or face masks. We take temperatures on day of testing and wash hands prior to boarding your vessel.
Testing for COVID 19 will rerquire additional time to schedule which is now 7-10 days before results are available.
In order to get more information out to the general boating public I have written several articles on what causes the vibration in the first place and how to identify the particular component that is causing the vibration.

I have found that over the 18+ years in aligning engines and uniformly balancing the loads on each engine mount is a unique process that requires extra attention to details on installation of the engine mounts. When this is done properly there will be very little residual vibration. As a result there are vibration level bench-marks that I use to help to define and achieve low vibration levels.
